Parmi les chouettes trouvailles faites dans mon grenier, il y a ce magazine en français publié par la BBC le 21 mai 1953, numéro spécial à l'occasion du couronnement de la reine Elizabeth II prévu le 2 juin 1953 à l'abbaye de Westminster.

Among the many treasures I found in my attic was this special issue of an old french-speaking magazine, Ici Londres, published by the BBC in May 1953 on the occasion of the coronation of her Majesty queen Elizabeth II in Westminster Abbey.

Le magazine détaille très précisément le déroulé des événements à venir afin de permettre aux futurs téléspectateurs de bien se préparer. La rediffusion télévisé du couronnement dans son entier, y compris la cérémonie à l'abbaye de Westminster, par la BBC fut une première mondiale.

The magazine is meant as a companion booklet to the impending broadcasting by the BBC, so that French viewers could prepare themselves properly to the event. It was the first time BBC's cameras were allowed to fully broadcast the coronation of a british monarch, including the ceremony at Westminster Abbey.
